Use common sense when selecting a domain name, as your domain name, or URL, can impact your website's online and offline marketing. Long or difficult-to-spell domain names can cause people to ignore your website, and it has to be pretty good for them to stay (for example, visit the website www.rumahkue.com). Short domain names stick in people's minds and are easier to remember.
Purchase a domain name that complements your marketing niche and strategy. As I previously stated, you can use your business's name as your URL. If your business name is already taken, choose a URL name that is descriptive of what you do. Purchasing a business name domain name is not always necessary, and there are times when a keyword domain name will suffice.
If you intend to use the.net extension, you may wish to delay naming your business until you have discovered an available domain name that is appropriate for your type of business. If you follow the steps outlined below, you should be able to successfully identify your name brand with the online community.
Structure Your Brand Name – Include your domain name on your letterhead, business card, and printed materials; include it in your phone recording and on the side of your car; and don't forget to include it in your email signature.
Maintain a Short & Memorable URL – Avoid obtaining a URL that contains all 26 letters of the alphabet.
Secure a.com domain name - I strongly advise you to purchase a.com domain name rather than a.net,.info,.biz, or anything else. If your desired domain name is not available in a.com, continue searching until you locate one that is not already taken. There is nothing wrong with the other extensions, but having a.com extension gives the impression that you have been online for a long period of time.
Bear in mind that your domain name is an extension of your business and product or service brand.
